Lights Camera Action

Youth Broadcast Media Program

What Is Lights Camera Action?

Lights Camera Action is a hands-on interactive after-school youth program aimed to reduce truant behaviors and promote attainment of higher education goals. At WE ARE NOW Inc, we give young people a realistic depiction of what it takes to succeed in the media industry.

Our program consists of providing the youth of Central Florida with an overview of the media industry and they will receive hands-on training with cameras and media equipment. We will help our members gain a basic understanding of the history and technological advancements in the field of broadcasting, and what this field has to offer them (education, jobs, etc.). Through the application of written texts and practical hands-on approaches, members will not only learn about different broadcasting methods and techniques but will also have opportunities to produce and host their own projects with the help of community participants, our Bridge Program and other industry professionals. We will create and broadcast content such as local athlete interviews, commercials, informercials and short stories. We will also host events and shows. Our original content will foster community engagement and promote positive self-esteem. We Are Now, Inc’s youth development approach is an intentional pro-social approach that engages young people in their communities (such as with small businesses), schools, peer groups, and families in a manner that is productive and constructive by providing various opportunities to engage, by nurturing positive relationships, and by furnishing the support needed to build on their leadership strengths. This approach recognizes, utilizes, and enhances the strengths of young people. We intend to use our content and events as a positive refuge from the pressures and struggles that many young people in our community may be facing in their everyday lives, whether they be our members, participants, or our viewers. Our youth will receive actual hands-on training with cameras and media equipment. They will create documentaries and sportscasts, and they will film local community events that are significant and of interest to both youth and adults alike.

What Will They Do When They Leave?

e?

While enrolled in college, members can continue to work with our program as interns, mentors, and youth counselors. This valuable work experience will help to bridge the gap between graduation and employment, and the work done with us will serve as their resume, so that they can immediately enter their chosen career fields.

The Bridge program is an internship designed to provide college students with the necessary hands-on skills and the experience to successfully enter the workforce. Research has shown that the largest hurdle college graduates face when attempting to enter the workforce is not having the necessary experience and soft skills that employers require.

Participants enrolling in this program will leave equipped with a detailed resume that lists all of the work and skills gained through our programs, which may include directing, acting, editing, reporting, etc.

Members and Staff will be responsible for creating some both informative and entertaining productions. We will create you tube based shows that will be hosted, filmed, edited, and produced by the participants of our program. We will air these shows and many other productions or our WANTv You Tube Channel. To learn more about our broadcasts click on the WANTv link.

Our groups will usually consist of 15 to 20 members and up to 10 instructors per facility. Our regular meeting sessions are usually Tuesday - Friday (3pm to 6pm) and many Saturdays time TBD. Unfortunately, in order to provide all of these programs and services we must charge. The fee is from $35 per week and an additional $25 per week if transportation is needed. We do offer several discounts, incentives and other opportunities to make our program more affordable.
